IDEM Seeks Nominations for the 2019 Governor's Awards for Environmental Excellence

Do you know of an organization that is remarkable in its efforts to protect the state of Indiana’s environment? If so, consider nominating them for the Indiana Governor’s Awards of Environmental Excellence.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence. The awards are Indiana’s highest environmental recognition and are open to all Indiana citizens and organizations. These awards recognize individuals and organizations who have implemented outstanding environmental strategies into their operations and decision-making processes.

IDEM and Governor Eric J. Holcomb’s office will present seven awards, one in each of the following categories:

  • Energy/Renewable Resources
  • Environmental Education/Outreach
  • Five Year Continuous Improvement
  • Greening the Government
  • Land Use/Conservation
  • Pollution Prevention
  • Recycling/Reuse

The public is invited to submit nominations, and organizations may self-nominate. Nominations are open to all Indiana facilities, government agencies, individuals and other groups that implement exemplary environmental projects or initiatives with measurable results. Nominations must be received by IDEM no later than 5 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Awards will be presented at the Annual Pollution Prevention Conference in September 2019. IDEM will also issue a statewide press release announcing the seven winners and summarizing their projects.
