June Government Affairs Education Opportunities

Good Morning All:

As an interested stakeholder in the Southwest Indiana Chamber Public Policy and Government Affairs programming, I would like to call your attention to two important educational opportunities this month.  Both are on June 26.

1.     E.ON North America is developing two wind farm projects in the Posey/Gibson County portion of our region.  This is a somewhat new aspect of the energy Industry in Southwest Indiana and one that is making very significant investments.  If you would like to become better informed on the industry in general and on these projects in particular, please plan to join other business interests at a Public Information Meeting hosted by E.ON on June 26th at North Posey High School.  Dinner is at 5:00 p.m. and presentations and discussion thereafter.  I’ve included quite a bit of detail on this project below

2.     We’ve invited Commissioner Bruno Pigott of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to be with us June 26 for an 11:30-1:00 meeting at the Chamber offices.  It has been some time since we’ve had the opportunity as a business community to catch up on the priorities of the Department.  Please plan to join this conversation at the Chamber’s Evansville Office, 318 Main St. Many thanks to Chris Zirkelbach and Environmental Safety Solutions (ESSI) for sponsoring this opportunity and to Matt Wallace for his part in bird-dogging matters of importance to our members and the regional business community.

Active engagement in the Chamber has its benefits and the opportunity to meet with the Commissioner Pigott in a business setting is certainly one.  We look forward to your participation and ask that you RSVP if you have not already done so as a courtesy to ESSI so we can have lunch available for you.  If you have specific interests or questions for the Commissioner, please feel welcome to send them my way in advance.

Similarly, I encourage you to become informed about wind energy capture in general, and the project coming to our region by attending the meeting on Wednesday evening, June 26 at North Posey High School.

Finally, since we have these two opportunities scheduled for June 26, we will not impose further on your time by having our regular meeting the Friday before June 21.  Participants will receive a meeting cancellation notice separately.

I look forward to being with you at both of these meetings on June 26th.
